We have taken a closer look at the above-mentioned product and subjected it to a practical test. Below, we provide detailed insights and impressions resulting from this evaluation. First impression of the packaging
In the first step of our THO testing process, the packaging is examined. Does it provide adequate protection for the product? Are the necessary manufacturer contact details and a service hotline printed on it?

The Mister Sandman cold foam mattress arrived sufficiently packaged in foil. There is an additional foil around the mattress itself. Since nothing can be damaged in a mattress, we consider this sufficient – one foil is enough to protect against rain or dirt.
However, we could not find any contact information. A phone number or email address could be included or added to a label to allow customers to quickly and conveniently contact the manufacturer in case of issues.
First impression of the product after opening the packaging
After opening the packaging and evaluating it, we take a closer look at the product’s workmanship. How high-quality are the materials used, and how do the feel and appearance rate?

When unpacking the mattress, no chemical odor is noticeable. However, the mattress still has a slightly synthetic smell.
Care instructions for proper washing are printed on the inside of the mattress cover. No additional leaflet with more detailed information (such as usage duration or warranty) is included. A note regarding use after unpacking the mattress is attached on a label on the packaging foil. However, we noticed that the German and English versions differ here (maximum airing time is 2 hours in German and 24 hours in English).
Visually, the mattress looks good – there are no loose seams, and the zipper works flawlessly and moves smoothly. The cover is finely crafted, and the mattress foam shows no signs of manufacturing defects.
The practical test
The practical test carries the greatest weight. Here, the product must undergo a variety of criteria and examinations by our independent testers. We test the functions promised by the manufacturer of the item under review.

The mattress from Mister Sandman matches the specified dimensions. It is slightly shorter in length, but this is acceptable as textiles may have up to a 3% deviation.
The spine is adequately supported, and the hips sink in well—as expected from a 7-zone mattress. However, we found the grooves of the mattress somewhat bothersome. They are strongly noticeable, especially on the firmer sleeping side (H3), regardless of the person’s weight.
The firmness levels matched the specifications – one side was softer, the other firmer. This was also visible in the grooves of the foam. A practical addition would be a sticker that clearly indicates which side corresponds to H2 and which to H3.

Our final evaluation category focuses on the price-performance ratio and the conformity with the online presentation. This category is weighted at 10%.

The 7-zone cold foam mattress falls more into the affordable price range. However, we cannot provide quality information about the other mattresses. The mattress we tested has good quality, but personally, we find it less comfortable due to the noticeable grooves.
