The NATURIZ® wood splitting wedge was delivered safely packed in a cardboard box. The wedge was already in the bag and was fitted with a protective cap to protect it from injury. It was also wrapped in film.

The address and e-mail address of the manufacturer are printed on the packaging. Unfortunately, the telephone number is not printed on the packaging, otherwise it would score full points.

After opening the packaging and evaluating it, we take a closer look at the product’s workmanship. How high-quality are the materials used, and how do the feel and appearance rate?

The wooden wedge arrived complete with bag and protective cap. There was no unpleasant odour when unpacking, which indicates good quality. The test product has no manufacturing defects such as loose seams on the bag, or cracks or coloured noses on the wedge. The vivid blue colour of the wedge stands out well. The sharp-edged cutting edge of the wooden splitting wedge is clean and sharply cut without any unclean tips that could injure you (please take care when using – the cutting edge is still sharp!).

The practical test

The practical test carries the greatest weight. Here, the product must undergo a variety of criteria and examinations by our independent testers. We test the functions promised by the manufacturer of the item under review.

Overall, the wedge was convincing in use. It performed solidly even with rather unruly, slightly knotted wood. Although a little more force was occasionally required, the wood could still be split reliably – without any tool frustration.

The wedge sits firmly in the gap and does not slip, which makes work noticeably easier, especially if you have to reposition the log or it falls over.

Particularly practical: the bright blue colour makes it super easy to find in a pile of wood or on a cluttered surface. No more tedious searching – once put down, the wedge is quickly in view again.

Bottom line: Works reliably, sits well in the hand and does what it is supposed to do – even with difficult materials.
