We have taken a closer look at the above-mentioned product and subjected it to a practical test. Below, we provide detailed insights and impressions resulting from this evaluation. From the packaging to the materials and quality, as well as the range of functions and handling, this product is put through our THO testing procedure. For a quick overview, we use a point system. The Company

We haven’t been able to find much information about BEFA so far. Their About Us page is still empty. BEFA sells bedding – from blankets and pillows to bed linen and mattress toppers. For commercial customers, they offer an exclusive selection of bedding that is ideal for hotels, the accommodation industry and similar establishments.

The BEFA camel hair blanket arrived well and securely packaged in a cardboard box. The blanket itself was in a practical carrying bag, as can be seen on the right-hand side of the picture. This can be opened with a zip, making it easy and safe to remove the blanket.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find any contact information anywhere; neither on the box, nor on the bag or the blanket itself.

After opening the packaging and evaluating it, we take a closer look at the product’s workmanship. How high-quality are the materials used, and how do they feel and appear ?

The natural hair blanket from BEFA made of camel hair has arrived in its entirety.

Care instructions are provided on a label attached to the blanket – it is washable at 30°C and not suitable for tumble drying. A small thank you note is also attached to the carrier bag.

When unpacking the blanket, you may notice a rather unusual smell. It is not very strong, but it is noticeable, which is why we recommend washing it or airing it out before use. However, opinions were divided on the smell: some say it smells rather neutral, while others find it rather unpleasant. Therefore, we only deducted a few points, as subjective perception clearly plays a major role here.

At first glance, the finish appears to be very good. The only negative aspect is the damage to one of the carrier bags. The camel hair blankets themselves are undamaged and, even on closer inspection of the seams, show no signs of damage. The damaged carrier bag can still be used and could probably be repaired, as it is torn at the seam, but this should not happen, of course.

The practical test

The practical test carries the greatest weight. Here, the product must undergo a variety of criteria and examinations by our independent testers. We test the functions promised by the manufacturer of the item under review.

The camel hair blanket matches the specifications in terms of colour and dimensions. In terms of length, the blanket was slightly larger, but only by 2–3 cm (when stretched out).

To test moisture absorption, we dampened one corner of the blanket with water and checked it again after 30–40 minutes. After this time, there was no trace of moisture left, so we can assume that the camel hair blanket has good moisture absorption capabilities.

When turning over, there are no disturbing noises that would make it difficult to fall asleep. The camel hair and the outer fabric are very comfortable and do not make any extra noise compared to a standard down blanket or similar textiles. The camel hair blanket is also extremely comfortable in terms of weight. Its light weight nestles gently against the body and provides a comfortable lying sensation. Thanks to the distribution of the camel hair, the blanket itself is still very compact and keeps its filling in place.

The natural hair blanket heats up quickly and retains heat for a long time. Unfortunately, we cannot comment on how well it cools in summer, as we at Trusted Heroes tested it in winter – but it certainly keeps you warm in cold temperatures.

General

Our final evaluation category focuses on the price-performance ratio and the conformity with the online presentation. This category is weighted at 10%.

We took a look at BEFA’s top ten competitors on Amazon and compared the prices of other camel hair (duo) winter blankets in the size 135×200 cm. We found an average price of €161.93. At €230 – at the time of our test and without taking discounts into account – our tested blanket is significantly above this average. However, there are even more expensive camel hair blakets, as a search engine search reveals. We therefore classify the BEFA camel hair blanket as expensive, but more in the mid-range to expensive category and rate it as good quality.

The camel hair blanket from BEFA has a convincing online presentation. The blanket is well presented and provides a lot of relevant information that gives a good impression of the product.
